Test Code TRTHS Troponin T, High Sensitivity
Performing Laboratory
Hunterdon Medical Center
Useful For
High sensitivity Cardiac Troponin T (cTnT) is useful for monitoring acute coronary syndromes including myocardial infarction and is associated with an improved rule-out process.
Cardiac troponin T is a cardio specific, highly sensitive marker for myocardial damage. Cardiac troponin T increases rapidly after acute marocardial infarction (i.e. it can be detected within one hour if using a high senitivity assay) and may persist for up to for two weeks thereafter.
If clinically indicated repeat troponin 2 hours after initial collection..
Note: ED Troponin HS Order Algorithm
- A serial testing algorithm is available for ED patients only:TRTWD. Troponin-T High Sensitivity with Delta.
- A second Troponin test is performed and a Delta change from the baseline result is reported.
- A third serial test may be ordered, if indicated.
