Test Code HCVB Hepatitis C Virus Antibody with Reflex
Performing Laboratory
Hunterdon Medical Center
Useful For
Detection and diagnosis of hepatitis C virus. Hepatitis C is a leading cause of liver disease and the cause of the most cases of post-transfusion hepatitis. HCV antibodies are not usually detectable during the first 2 months of infection. They are usually detectable in the late convalescent (>6 months after onset). These antibodies do not provide immunity against this viral infection.
