Test Code CRPHS High Sensitivity C-Reactive Protein
Performing Laboratory
Hunterdon Medical Center Laboratory
Useful For
High Sensitivity CRP (hs-CRP) is a useful tool in the assessment of patients at risk for cardiovascular disease. A single test may not reflect an individual patient's basal hs-CRP level. Repeat measurement may be required to establish a patient's basal level.
Hs-CRP levels persistently >10 mg/L should be evaluated for non-cardiovascular sources of infection or inflammation. (CRP testing)
Hs-CRP testing should not be performed while there is indication of infection, systemic inflammation, or trauma.
Note: Hs-CRP is not a substitute for traditional cardiovascular risk factors.
