Useful For
T-Spot is a highly sentitive blood test used to screen for TB. (Mycobacterium tuberculosis). The sensitivity and specificity of the test exceeds 95%. This test is appropriate for high risk groups as well as screening. It is unaffected by the BCG vaccination.

Specimen Requirements
- 9 mL Vacuette® green top tube (Lithium heparin).

- Fill tube to line. Invert 8-10 times.
- Maintain upright position
- Note: if patient is immunocompromised two tubes should be collected to assure a sufficient quantity of WBC's for testing.

Methodology
IGRA: Interferon Gamma Release Assay. A purified volume of WBC’s is stimulated with TB specific antigens. The cells release interferon-gamma which is bound and measured.
