Useful For

Serum TSH is the most reliable test to diagnose common forms of hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism.

Uses for thyroid testing:

  • Diagnose a thyroid disorder in a patient with symptoms.
  • Screen newborns for underactive thyroid.
  • Monitor thyroid replacement therapy.
  • Diagnose and monitor female infertility problems.
  • Assist in the evaluating the function of the pituitary gland along with the Free T4 (Thyroxine).
