NOTE: Lyme Serology is perfomed at Hunterdon Medical Center Laboratory.

Lyme Immunoblot will be sent to Mayo Clinical Laboratories if the Lyme Serology is Positive.

Two specimens required: Pink or Lavender EDTA and SST Tube

Evaluation of patients with a history of, or suspected, tick exposure who are presenting with fever, myalgia, headache, nausea, and other nonspecific symptoms

Reference Values

Lyme Serology: Negative

If acute specimen is negative (i.e. antibodies undetectable) and the clinical history strongly suggests recent exposure, a second specimen should be collected within 2-4 weeks.

 

PCR: Negative

Reflex Tests

Lyme Immunoblot will be performed if Lyme Serology is positive.
