This test is a qualitative test for the detection of elevated levels of fecal lactoferrin in liquid, semi-solid and solid fecal specimens. Fecal lactoferrin is a marker for fecal leukocytes and an indicator of intestinal inflammation.Lactoferrin is very stable and is not degraded during infections by the toxins of pathogens.
