The Total Prostate Specific Antigen test performed at HMC Laboratory is an ultrasensitive method with a low detection limit of 0.01 ng/mL
Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) testing in conjunction with digital rectal examination is useful as an aid in the detection of prostate cancer in men aged 50 years and older. Prostate biopsy is required for the diagnosis of prostate cancer.
The test is further indicated for serial measurement of PSA to aid in the management of cancer patients.
Note: Results from different assay methods cannot be used interchangeably.
