Test Code LIPM Lipid Profile with LDL

Performing Laboratory

Hunterdon Medical Center Laboratory

Useful For

Lipid Profile reference ranges have been established using the NHBLI (National Heart Lung and Blood Institute) recommendations, which includes the ATP III Classifications (Adult Treatment Plan) for HDL, LDL and the associated ratios and risk factors.

Included in the report are Cholesterol/HDL Ratio and Risk Factors, the LDL/HDL Ratio, as well as the individual results for Cholesterol, Triglycerides, HDL and LDL (calculated).

Test Algorithm

A calculated LDL is performed on all Lipid Panels. If the triglyceride level is greater than or equal to 400 mg/dL a Direct LDL will be performed at an additional charge.

LDL Calculation = CHOL-HDL-(TRIG/5)
