Special Instructions

Excretion of the Legionella antigen is variable depending on the patient. Excretion may begin as early as 3 days after onset of symptoms, and may persist up to one year.

Specimen Required

Sterile container.

Specimen Type

Urine specimen.

Specimen Transport Temperature

Ambient:  Deliver within 24 hours.

Specimen Stability Information

Refrigerated 2-8°C. Stable for 14 days. Boric acid is an acceptable preservative.

Reject Due To

Kit is validated for use only on urine specimens. It is not to be used on plasma, body fluids or any environmental sample.
