Useful For
Hepatitis B core antibodies (Anti-HBc) can usually be detected shortly after the appearance of HBsAg. Anti-HBc antibodies can also be detected in persons who have recovered from Hepatitis B and from those who are carriers of Hepatitis B. This test detects both IgM and IgG antibodies. Reactive HBc Ab is an indicator of past or present infection with hepatitis B, but is not useful in differentiating between acute, chronic and past or resolved infections.
