- Anaerobic culture swab. (Anaerobic culture from sterile/surgical sites only.)
- Fluids may be collected in a syringe or sterile container.

Conventional culture and Biochemical Identification methods.
Gram stain may be performed upon request to rule out bacterial vaginosis or predominant yeast.
