Test Code CREAT Creatinine

Performing Laboratory

Hunterdon Medical Center Laboratory

Useful For

Serum Creatinine is waste from protein and muscle breakdown. The results help to assess kidney function.

Glomerular filtration rate (GFR) is the best overall index of kidney function. HMC Laboratory performs a GFR (eGFR) calculation on each Creatinine ordered. This includes: Comprehensive Metabolic Panel (CMP), Basic Metabolic Panel (BMP), Renal Function Panel (RENAL) and individual  Serum Creatinine orders.

The Estimated GFR is calculated using the 2021 CKD-EPI creatinine calculation supplied by the National Kindey Foundation. Components included: Serum Creatinine assay, age and gender.
